The Gallery System track is the core of the system providing a strong, durable and flexible base for all Gallery requirements. The track is slightly larger than The Slimline Art Hanging System and should be considered for most commercial Gallery spaces or where The Gallery Lighting System may be required.
Things to consider:
Colour / Finish
Choosing the finish can be a daunting task for some, however, in reality it is simple. Some clients prefer to choose white to match walls and minimise the visual impact of the track whilst others will opt for the Anodised Silver either to match different coloured walls or to contrast. Many interior environments use Anodised Silver in door/window frames, handles et cetera. As such the contrast approach often looks aesthetically appealing. The track can also be painted should a custom colour be required, generally we recommend running a fine grade sand paper over the track first to assist with adhesion.
Planning the system
There are several things to consider when planning your system including your approach to track placement. Whether the track will be placed only where required or continuously around the room will ultimately be a personal preference or budgetary decision. Often it makes sense to follow a pre-existing line, such as the top of window or door frames. It should also be noted that the ‘Clear Tape’ droppers are inserted from one end of the track and as such consideration needs to be given to where an end may be accessed for this purpose. Stainless Steel droppers for The Gallery System, can be added at any point without access to the ends.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that if you are considering adding ‘The Gallery Lighting System’ to the track in the future, then the track must be continuous with a 4cm gap left at the corners to allow the lighting system to travel around the corners; covers are produced to disguise the wires from view. In these cases the track should not be suspended higher than 2.6 metres as this will diminish the effect of the lighting. Finally, the track must be placed at least 1.5cm from the ceiling or cornice to ensure the ‘lighting wands’ can be added and removed as required.
Installation Information
Installing the track is a simple process that can be easily achieved by a home handyman or maintenance team member. The track is installed to the wall with included screws and masonry plugs (for installation into concrete or brick walls). Whilst it is recommended that the track be installed into the studs on a giprock/plasterboard wall, should you need to anchor into a hollow wall, ‘wall mates’ should be used. These are readily available from any hardware store.
The Gallery System track is not pre-drilled to allow flexibility during the installation. Please read the installation instructions for further information.
